Community Support Stories

Maren Winter& Levi Goebel
In July of 2022, Alpena natives Maren Winter and Levi Goebel celebrated their marriage at the beautiful Sojourn Lakeside Resort in Gaylord, Michigan. Touched by the personal loss of their friend Dallin Toth earlier that year, Levi and Maren chose to include The Sunset Project into their event by replacing traditional party favors with a donation in their guests names. Maren and Levi were able to raise over $x, providing much needed funding for The Sunset Project to establish it’s expanding list of programs.

In Memory of Alex Hoppe
After the loss of their friend Alex Hoppe in early 2022, Addi Marceau, Gabbie Smith, and Ashlyn Schaedig made it their mission to raise awareness and funds in his name. Through selling silicon wristbands via word of mouth and at local area businesses, these young women raised over $x that was generously donated to The Sunset Project in Alex’s name.

The First Annual Brighter Horizons Fundraising Event
Prior to the public launch in March of 2022, The Sunset Project hosted their First Annual Brighter Horizon’s Fundraising Event in February, allowing for parents, friends and family to see first hand what the goals and objectives of the organization would be for the coming year. Thanks to the tremendous support of those individuals, The Sunset Project was able to raise over $15,000 in a single night. This influx of funding set up the organization for an incredibly successful first year of operation, allowing for the creation of programs, hosting events, and setting up endowment funds for future use.
We Can't do it Without You!
