For November's local creative highlight we approached Melayne Manes - an outstanding hair and makeup artist operating right here locally in the Alpena area.
Melayne began her journey in 2018 and expanded her love for makeup into a career beginning in 2020. You can find Melayne (as well as her wonderful hair and makeup skills) working alongside Hair By Ellie in Downtown Alpena!
Hey, I’m Melayne Odell! I am a 22-year-old Hair and Makeup Artist, and I am the face behind @melaynemanes on Instagram! I am located in Alpena Mi, though I was born and raised in Mikado, Mi!
I am a stylist at Hair By Ellie & Company in Downtown Alpena. I strive to make your time with me relaxing, and you leave feeling uplifted and brand new!
I began my journey in the beauty industry in 2018 and officially started my career in 2020. I started with the love of makeup, where I would sit at my vanity for countless hours practicing different techniques. Later I went to cosmetology school at Douglas J Aveda and soon fell in love with doing hair.
I have always had a creative drive in me, and I am at my happiest when I can let it thrive. Behind the chair, I am my most confident, and comfortable self. Being able to make amazing connections, and make my guests feel their best, will always be why I love what I do.
The creative world is such a beautiful place when you have the drive and passion for it. At times it can break you down, but you will only ever come back out stronger! Having a positive outlook and keeping a great support system has helped me get to where I am now.
